The Bybee Research Team manages a portfolio of $3.2 million in funded research!
Jacqueline Telonidis is the program manager on the Bybee research team for the NIH funded R01 study, Developing an Inclusive Measure of Financial Hardship for People Living with Dementia and their Care Contributors. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Master of Science in Gerontology from the University of Utah College of Nursing. As a gerontologist, Jacquie has been involved with curriculum development, education, training, and research in the field on aging. Prior to joining the Bybee research team, Jacquie served as the training programs administrator for the Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) Utah Geriatric Education Consortium (UGEC) at the University of Utah College of Nursing. She was integral in the development of several self-paced, online courses, including an end-of-life goals of care conversations course. She also oversaw the UGEC dementia caregiver conferences in rural areas, and managed the UGEC Age-Friendly ECHO’s monthly webinar series. Jacquie has an extensive background in survey research, and worked for 10-years at Westat in Rockville, Maryland. In addition, she has experience in curriculum development, and is an Adjunct Instructor for the Gerontology Interdisciplinary Program at the University of College of Nursing.
Nicole Fleming is the Study Coordinator on the Bybee research team. She works on the NIA funded R01 mentioned by Jacquie and the pilot program Hispanic/Latino Individuals’ Experiences of Housing Instability and Resilience. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health with a minor in Spanish from Arcadia University. Prior to joining the Bybee research team, she had the privilege to work and learn alongside Dr. Anne Kazak and Dr Lamia Barakat’s team on the implementation science trial Implementation of Family Psychosocial Risk Assessment in Pediatric Cancer (PAT). Nicole’s work focused on qualitative and mixed methods process analysis of a learning collaborative developed as a part of the study. She also aided in data collection and presented posters to communicate preliminary findings of her and her team’s research. Coming from a public health background, she is thrilled to work on a study team dedicated to moving upstream—from social determinants of health up to institutional policies, community and social norms, to environmental and political determinants of health. She loves to learn from and work with minoritized groups and people with a variety of experiences to move towards a more equitable society. She also loves to speak Spanish! Outside of work, Nicole can be found doing yoga, exploring the wild with friends, and petting all the doggos.
