Mission and Vision

Sara's Mission & Vision

Mission: I am a parent, partner, daughter, friend, researcher, mentor, and advocate. Through community-engaged and creative research, I strive to make a positive impact on society and to achieve health equity for historically underserved and marginalized populations. My future program of research will involve the scientific study of policy as a factor in the psychological and physical outcomes that disproportionately affect historically marginalized and minoritized populations. As a lifelong learner, I am constantly absorbing new information and engaged in personal development. My compassion for others is my greatest gift and is what drives me towards my long-term goal of creating a healthier and more equitable society. As a mentor, I take a warm and caring approach while also encouraging others to be the best versions of themselves and to question the status quo. Ultimately, connection with others and love are what makes life meaningful.

Vision: I envision a world in which all people have a fair and just opportunity to achieve their highest level of health and wellbeing regardless of their abilities/disabilities, backgrounds and cul.tures, identities, health or lived experiences.

Throughout the world, we find living systems nesting within other living systems. The double role of living systems as parts and wholes requires the interplay of two opposite tendencies: an integrative tendency to function as part of a larger whole, and a self-assertive, or self-organizing tendency.
